• New 2025 nbn wholesale prices following annual review

Each year, nbn conducts an annual review on the wholesale prices applied to RSPs for nbn services.

These changes ensure pricing remains fair and transparent and align with nbn’s regulatory framework, which allows prices to increase by up to the annual percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), measured over the 12 months to 31 December. The new charges will apply from 1 July 2025.

The changes are also in line with the regulatory framework in nbn’s Special Access Undertaking, which was accepted by the ACCC in October 2023 following two years of consultation.

What does this mean for people with an nbn connection?

The increase in price applies to RSPs who sell nbn connections to the public. It is their decision whether to increase their prices accordingly for their customers. Some may choose to pass on the increase, some may choose to increase it further, while others may keep prices the same. Speak to your RSP if you have any questions about any changes to pricing on your bill.

It’s a great reminder to regularly check your plan to make sure the pricing, speeds and provisions suit your needs. For more information on things to look for, check out our page on choosing the best internet or phone provider and plan.

How much will the wholesale prices increase?

On the most popular residential speed tiers across the fixed line network, average wholesale prices are forecast to increase by between $0 and $1.71 per month. For business services, nbn will introduce discounts on selected plans to encourage small and medium businesses to adopt plans that may better suit their needs compared to a standard residential service.

With these discounts, effective prices will remain stable from 1 July 2025 and come down from 1 September 2025. For more detailed information on the changes to wholesale prices at each level, please read nbn’s media release.
